Karen Italia Caballero lacks tears to continue crying for her sons Alejandro and Fernando who are part of the 53 immigrants who died last 27 June a trailer was crowded into the box due to suffocation.
In an interview with Telemundo, the Guatemalan mother narrated with deep pain that her children were excited about the idea of coming to the United States to work and change their lifestyle, however, the young people met death.
“They were so excited to make the trip. Every day they asked me ‘Mom, when are we going to leave?’ ”, The mother said about the question that her children asked her over and over again. And he added: “It was as if they were going to a birthday, like when they were little ‘When is the birthday, mommy?’.
Italy Caballero pointed out that his son Alejandro was the most excited about migrating to the United States and even promised her a house, an idea that also moved her brother Fernando: “It was funny, because they told me, ‘Mommy, when we’re there we’ll buy you a little house,’ and I said, ‘I’m not going to need a little house , because you won’t be here’“.
Although the mother felt sad for the departure of her children, she gave them her blessing, filled them with kisses and hugs before seeing them leave the past June 4.
“I hope they succeed. You focus,” she remembers her telling them. And he added: “And then (there came) the hugs, the kisses, the caresses… Alejandro is a big, big bear… he is very big,” he revealed before the cameras of the aforementioned medium.
