The manufacturers of Cola Chernogolovka, a local Russian drink, are experiencing a real boom after Coca-Cola and Pepsi suspended sales in that country as a sign of disapproval of their invasion of Ukraine.

According to information released by Reuters, the manufacturers of Cola Chernogolovka hope to continue from strength to strength to quench the thirst of the Russians, including the large American fast food chains that were neglected by the famous American soft drinks.

Chernogolovka, the beverage company named after a city on the outskirts of Moscow, told the agency that its presence in hotels, restaurants and cafes has multiplied so far this year, and that it is also supplying Burger King and KFC points of sale that operate in Russian territory.

“Since April, Burger King and KFC have received Chernogolovka drinks,” said a company spokesman. “We think this is far from the limit”.

In addition to its Cola soft drink, Chernogolovka produces an energy drink named after a Siberian lake, and Duchess, a lemonade, which are also sold at Burger King and KFC.

As if that were not enough, Chernogolovka announced that they are in talks to expand the range of beverages they supply to Burger King.

Coca-Cola and PepsiCo decided to suspend their sales in Russia from March, joining the many brands Western consumers to scale back operations in opposition to Moscow’s actions in Ukraine.

Burger King suspended corporate support for its Russian locations in March, but through a complex legal web, has been unable to close its approximately 552 franchised locations.

For its part, KFC, of Yum Brands Inc, stopped its investments in Russia and stopped operations in its 70 KFC restaurants in the country, but Yum has limited control over the independent franchisees that run most of the 1,000 locations and remain open.

Apparently Vladimir Putin was not so wrong when he welcomed the departure of transnational companies as a measure of pressure from Western countries, arguing that it was an opportunity for development for local businesses.
