Last summer Bill Cosby left prison after serving just over two years of a sentence of up to ten for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 47. America’s former father was released on a technicality that led the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court to overturn his conviction, alleging that his constitutional rights had been violated in the trial that led to his imprisonment.
The interpreter celebrated that decision as proof of his innocence, which he has always maintained in the face of dozens of accusatory testimonies shared by his alleged victims. Now, coinciding with the anniversary of his release from prison, a video made by his publicist Andrew Wyatt has come to light while they were driving home after leaving the prison, in which Cosby explains that he was cheered by “murderers, rapists , bank robbers and abusers” when he left his cell after receiving the news of the ruling in his favor.
“I was in bed, on the cot, when they opened the door because it was one o’clock, and about four or five guys started yelling, ‘Bill, get up. Bill, get up. You’re going home,’” explains the actor in the recording, in which he appears half-sitting, half-slumped in the passenger seat. At first the interpreter thought it was his turn to take a shower, and he even put his flip-flops on the wrong foot because he couldn’t assimilate what he was hearing.
This video has been published when Cosby celebrates his first year in freedom, which he has commemorated by also publishing on Instagram a photograph in which he appears dressed in a yellow shirt.
