While Homero Zamorano’s wife, Jennifer Duncan, insists on saying that her husband is a “good man”, the mother of the driver accused of the death of 53 migrants assures that her son “was in bad steps”.
In an interview with Univision, Zamorano’s mother, who asked to keep her identity anonymous to avoid any attack against her, accepted that it was not the first time that her son would get into trouble and that she knew he was “in the wrong,” but she never imagined that he would engage in human trafficking.
With a lump in her throat, the mother of the family revealed what he would do if he had Homer in front of him: “If I had him in front of me, I would slap him.” And she added that she would also ask him a key question: “Why did you do it, why? You had never done anything like this”.
After a brief talk with the mother of the driver of the trailer found in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 50 dead in inside, you can tell that Zamorano is a man with a long criminal record dating back to 1990.
“He always told him ‘don’t bring me your people where I live. Whatever you do, that’s going to be your problem. If they lock you up, don’t look for me and if you look for me (let it be) just tell me where you are…’”, the mother recounted what she once said to her son.
According to Mrs. Zamorano, Homer is a very unstable man, who could live one day in Florida, the next in New York, New Jersey or in Houston, Baytown and Pasadena.
According to police photos, Zambrano has several crimes in Texas that include: possession of marijuana, trespassing, as well as not wanting to identify himself with a law enforcement officer. He now faces federal charges of smuggling undocumented immigrants that resulted in the deaths of 53 people.
According to one report, the driver of the trailer attempted to pass himself off as one of the survivors, however, was photographed by a security camera, smiling behind the wheel as he passed through a US Border Patrol checkpoint in Encinal, Texas.
The outlook for Homero Zamorano is bleak since, according to federal prosecutors, he, as well as his other accomplices, could spend the rest of their lives behind bars or could face the death penalty.
