The Pentagon announced this Friday a new shipment of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine to combat the Russian army in the south and east of the country.

This fourteenth military aid package includes two systems anti-aircraft defense, missiles for the United States Himars rocket launchers, supplied in June, and up to 150, projectiles of 155 mm.

Air defense systems, known as Nasams, can fire short- and medium-range surface-to-air missiles. They are manufactured by the American Raytheon and the Norwegian group Kongsberg.

“The United States continues to work with its allies and partners to provide Ukraine with the necessary equipment to face an evolving battlefield, “said Todd Breasseale, spokesman for the US Department of Defense in a statement.

These remote-controlled devices will help the Ukrainian forces to defend against Russian aviation and drones, as well as cruise missiles.

The Pentagon “recognizes Norway’s cooperation in enabling the historic delivery by the United States of modern air defense systems that will help Ukraine defend itself against brutal Russian airstrikes”.

This new package brings the total amount of US security aid to Ukraine to 6,900 million dollars since the beginning of the Russian invasion on 24 February.
