The man whose decomposed body was found under a sofa in a Queens apartment this week was stabbed to death, police updated on the case, citing the coroner’s report.

The NYPD officers discovered the body of the unidentified victim Wednesday around 1 pm when responding to a report of a foul odor inside an apartment on Jamaica Avenue near 57th Street in the Woodhaven neighborhood, authorities said.

The city medical examiner’s office determined that the man was the victim of a homicide and suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck and back, authorities detailed Thursday night.

Police believe the man had been dead for weeks due to the condition of the corpse. Apparently he was seen for the last time two weeks before the gloomy discovery.

“The body was so decomposed that they don’t know who it is,” a police source told New York Post. No arrests have been made at this time and the circumstances leading to the stabbing remain under investigation. In addition to identifying the victim by name and age, it is still pending to determine exactly when she was murdered.
