The Puerto Rico Police is investigating this Sunday the fact that a 4-year-old boy was shot in his left hand when a firearm detonated at his residence in the Toronjal sector of the Almirante Norte neighborhood in Vega Baja ( north).
According to preliminary information from the Police, it is alleged that on Saturday, the partner of the minor’s mother caught a firearm with his thigh and the arm of the sofa, and the child lay down on them, making contact with the weapon, shooting himself.
Upon hearing the detonation, the adults realized that the minor was injured in his left hand.
After the event, the mother and her partner took the minor to the Doctors’ Center Hospital of Manatí, where he was diagnosed with an open wound with entry and exit on the left hand, and was referred to the Río Piedras Medical Center (San Juan).
This incident was reported to the personnel of the Department of the Family, who already has it assigned.
Agents from the Vega Baja Precinct and the Division of Sexual Crimes and Child Abuse of the Vega Baja Criminal Investigation Corps are investigating the event.
