Venezuelan infielder Eduardo Escobar and his compatriot, pitcher Carlos Carrasco, led the New York Mets 4-1 victory against the Texas Rangers this Sunday in the Major Leagues.
Escobar commanded the Metropolitan offense by firing his eighth home run of the season off Jon Gray’s pitches in the bottom of the fourth inning.
In addition, the home run also continued Escobar’s string of hitting four-corner hits for the third consecutive day.
On the other hand, from the mound he highlighted the work of Carlos Carrasco. The experienced pitcher pitched for 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one run.
As if that were not enough, he prescribed eight strikeouts that helped him win nine of this 550 and thus overcome a streak of two negative starts.
The victory was the number 49 of the season, this being the third best record of the season, only above the Yankees (58) and Astros (51).
