Detective Inspector Maria Green, who led the investigation, told the Evening Standard: “My thoughts are with Tim’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. Tim may have had difficulties in life, but he has always been a much loved son, brother and friend.”

Immediately after the attack on King’s Road, a main street that extends via Chelsea and Fulham, both in west London, he was able to name the man who had stabbed him.

“He said ‘Olly’ and this was captured on video from the body of one of the first officers on the scene. Within days, Oliver Muldowney was arrested and charged despite his attempts to evade justice,” said Inspector Green.

The court heard that Hipperson had gone to Peldon Passage to buy drugs from Muldowney on May 2021.

Muldowney offered a friend of Hipperson’s drugs and money to leave the area, since he had witnessed the murder. He but he stayed and helped the police with their investigation of him.

Muldowney was arrested at a hotel in Reading after a police chase.

Green added: “Muldowney was motivated by jealousy and Tim Hipperson paid the price. of that jealousy with his life. Muldowney was convinced that his partner was dating other men, and Tim was one of them.”

“Muldowney killed Tim in an alley. He then tried to bribe Tim’s friend, who witnessed the attack, with drugs and money, but it didn’t work. He did the right thing and spoke up for his friend,” the inspector said.
