R. Kelly’s lawyers have sued for $100 million dollars from the “gulag” prison in which he is being held, after being sentenced to 30 years for sexual trafficking and abuse of girls.

The singer’s lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean explained that they made the decision after R. Kelly was “illegally” placed on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn.

Although he did not specify the compensation that have sought damages, the record is said to suggest that Kelly is seeking $100 million.

Through her Twitter account, the lawyer wrote: “This afternoon we sued the Brooklyn MDC for having unlawfully confined R. Kelly on suicide watch. A. Kelly is not suicidal. He was in a good mood after his sentencing hearing and ready to fight his appeal. Placing him on suicide watch was punitive behavior by the @BureauOfPrisons.”

The specialist added to Fox News that the surveillance was “a violation of her rights of the Eighth Amendment.” She also told NBC News: “MDC Brooklyn is being run like a gulag. My partner and I spoke with Mr. Kelly after his sentencing, he stated that he was mentally sound, that he was behaving properly, and that he was eager to continue with his appeal.”

Surveillance of Suicide typically entails the prisoner being placed in a cell without clothing and given a one-piece, tear-resistant coverall to wear. It also usually includes increased observation by guards.

Kelly -whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly- will face a second trial in August, accused of possessing images of sexual abuse of minors.

On Wednesday 29 June, he was sentenced to three decades in prison in the United States District Court in New York for organize a scheme to sexually attract and exploit young aspiring singers and underage children.
