The Formula 1 British Grand Prix was interrupted at the start, as a result of a chilling accident suffered by the Chinese Guanyu Zhou (Alfa Romeo). After receiving a touch from Englishman George Russell (Mercedes), the Chinese vehicle was thrown upside down and crashed into a fence where several spectators were.
This clash at Silverstone caused a chain reaction that also affected Frenchman Esteban Ocon (Alpine), Japanese Yuki Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) and Thai Alex Albon (Williams), who took blows for all sides. In the middle of the emergency, Russell got out of his car to see the state in which Zou was, who was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
“After his accident, Zhou underwent controls in the medical center. There were no major injuries,” Alfa Romeo announced on Twitter, minutes after the accident. After he was discharged, the Asian pilot reported on his networks that he is in perfect condition: “I’m fine, everything is clear. The Halo saved me. Thank you all for your kind messages!”
Spanish Champion and podium for Checo
For his part, the Spaniard Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) got his first victory in Formula 1, after winning the British Grand Prix. In this way, he signed victory number 33 for Spain in the premier category of motorsports; nine years after the last one achieved by double world champion Fernando Alonso (Alpine), author of the others 32 .
I don’t know what to say, it’s fascinating. My first victory in my career 150 in F1, with Ferrari and at Silverstone. Is incredible. It is a special day. It has not been easy, not at all; but, in the end, it has been a very special weekend. It’s amazing”.

Spanish, from 27 years old, prevailed over the Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez (Red Bull) and the seven-time world champion, the Englishman Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who concluded second and third, respectively. It is worth remembering which circuit hosted, in 1950, the first race in the history of Formula 1.
