she-was-subjected-to-more-than-30-chemotherapies-that-she-did-not-need-and-all-because-of-a-bad-diagnosis

The National Commission for Human Rights in Mexico (CNDH) is thoroughly investigating a new case of medical negligence committed by personnel from a hospital of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), after a woman reported that she cancer was erroneously diagnosed.

As detailed in file 1/2019/2019/Q of the CDNH, the event occurred in the state of San Luis Potosí and dates from 2017, when in the month of April a beneficiary of this institution went to one of his clinics when he felt severe pain in his back, buttocks and legs.

In a first assessment, the doctors indicated that his discomfort was the product of a contracture and prescribed medication. However, the treatment did not work and despite the fact that he returned because the pain he felt was getting worse, the IMSS medical staff did not want to do a CT scan because they believed it was just sciatica.

But as the problem continued, the woman was referred to an orthopedic specialist, who notified her that in reality, what he had was a malignant tumor, very aggressive and inoperable. This doctor even told her, in cold blood, that there was little that could be done for her and that she would not have more than 6 months to live.

To corroborate the diagnosis, the patient underwent a study in a specialty hospital, where they “detected” a giant bone cell tumor, which measured about 2 centimeters. After that, the woman underwent 30 chemotherapy to try to save her life.

At the end of 2018 and without seeing any improvement in her condition, the patient decided to seek a second opinion and went to a private hospital where they told her that the tumor she was diagnosed with, which now weighed 10 kilos, it was never malignant and they needed to operate on it because it put his life at risk.

But a year later and when seeking a second opinion, they told her that she never had cancer.

The woman had to invest some $15,10 dollars for a surgery that has had an impact on your life to date.

Now, he is demanding that the IMSS give him compensation.
