Discreetly, Anya Taylor-Joy got married in the United States.
According to the Page Six portal reported yesterday, the protagonist of ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ recently married the actor and musician Malcolm McRae.
The actress of 27 years old is currently filming in Australia on feature film ‘Furiosa’, a prequel to ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ (2015) directed by George Miller, but would have flown to his home country for the ceremony. The couple plans to hold a bigger celebration in the future, when they both return to North American territory.
Until the closing of this edition, neither the actress nor her husband, of 27 years, they had expressed themselves on social networks about the link.
The couple made their red carpet debut last March, during a Vanity Fair party after the Oscars. The following month, both appeared together again at the English premiere of ‘The Northman’, a film in which the actress has a role.
In recent months there have been rumors about a possible engagement, then that Taylor-Joy was seen in Sydney with a ring, but she didn’t comment on it.
The ‘Last Night in Soho’ star (2015) has spoken little about her relationship with the musician, but in a recent interview with British Vogue, she mentioned that they both share a love of reading.
“The other day, I told him that he is my hobby. For me, reading is something I have to do. He loved it because he is just like me. I have finally found someone who can happily sit quietly with me and read. We are basically like people who are 80 years old and 9 years old at the same time, and it works very well for us,” she said.
He also indicated that his work commitments made it difficult to have a long-distance relationship, but that she was happy with her courtship.
“I was never good at dating and I’m so glad I’m not. I hear stories from my friends and I’m like, ‘God, I’d be a mess,’” she said.
Taylor-Joy was born in Miami, Florida, and is the daughter of an Argentine father and a British mother. Last year she was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Limited Series for ‘The Queen’s Gambit.’ This Netflix show is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Walter Tevis, about a young chess prodigy.
