Rubí Olivas, 12 years old, was carrying her little brother Julián when a man, until now unidentified, unexpectedly came out from the bushes of the Hispanic family’s adjoining house with a gun in hand and opened fire on the minor.
The cameras of the Olivas family house managed to capture the disturbing moment in which the minor runs, without letting go of her little brother , was going home while her assailant shot at her on several occasions.
The speed with which Olivas ran home prevented one of the 14 bullets that the gunman detonated them.
After the detonations, the minor’s mother, Rosa, was shot.
From the hospital, the matriarch of the The Olivas family pointed out that the target of the criminal was their daughter: “The target was my daughter who was 12 years old. The thug who shot him fired a few 14 shots at him and one of those shots hit me. Unfortunately I am in the hospital with a broken femur. I was shot in the upper right thigh. Fortunately, my daughter and my son, who are 11 months old, are fine.”
Rubí’s mother told KCTV that she knows the shooter and that he has been arrested, although she avoided giving the name so as not to hinder the investigations.
Through GoFundMe a friend of Rosa Olivas has asked for help to be able to pay for the medical treatment of the minor’s mother and help the family to move from Kansas City to prevent the gunman from trying to attack her again and this time he does accomplish his goal.
“We need to move house, because my daughter of 12 years was the goal. There is zero chance that we will return (to live in that house)”, said the distraught mother from a local hospital bed.
