Contradicting his much promoted patriotism, the controversial former Republican president Donald Trump has outraged relatives of those killed in the terrorist attacks of 9/ for organizing a golf tournament in New Jersey with the Saudi government, which he himself has associated with the origin of the tragedy of the September 2001.

The “Tournament de Golf LIV” (LIV Golf Tournament) is being held about 50 miles from the attack on the World Trade Center (NYC), in the “Trump Country Club” in Bedminster, New Jersey. In those lands also just two weeks ago. His ex-wife Ivana Trump was buried. At least two of the couple’s three children have been photographed at the event: Ivanka and Eric.

Specifically, the families affected by the tragedy are outraged that the Saudi Arabian government is a sponsor of the event, and consider it a public relations stunt to change the image of that kingdom.

In the case of the Trump tournament, the organization “9/11 Families United” says that the crown prince of Saudi Arabia does not care about sport, but is trying to whitewash history, using its oil influence, indicated ABC News.

“The crown prince of Saudi Saudi Mohammed bin Salman is exploiting them to improve the image of the Saudi kingdom in the US by associating the kingdom with a respected and traditional sport,” said the leader of “9/11 Families United”, Terry Strada, who lost her husband in the terrorist attack in New York. “To distract attention from their role in unleashing extremism in the world, terrorizing our children, murdering our loved ones, and injuring thousands of survivors.”

The families call this effort “laundering sports” and are deeply concerned that professional golfers like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bryson Dechambeau and Sergio Garcia are becoming spokesmen for the Saudis at the Trump-hosted event. Others who have announced their participation are Charles Barkley and Caitlyn Jenner.

Relatives of the victims believe that President Biden should hold the Saudi prince responsible for the of September and are calling “blood money” given to golfers at this event.
