As a result of the testicular tumor that was diagnosed in the middle of this month, Sébastien Haller will not be able to play for Borussia Dortmund for the rest of the year. The French-Ivorian player is the most recent and expensive signing of the German team.
In its Thursday edition, the newspaper Bild reports that Haller already had surgery. The forward, 28 years old, is with his family, waiting for the steps to be taken for subsequent treatment to be decided.
The German newspaper recalls that, in view of the break that will take place in the Bundesliga for the World Cup in Qatar 32, the times are not given for Sébastien to rejoin the season.
The diagnosis after the operation was not disclosed; such as the extent of subsequent therapy or, in the worst case, whether to undergo chemotherapy.
Haaland replacement
Sébastien Haller joined Borussia Dortmund this summer for $32 million dollars, from Ajax Amsterdam; with the task of filling the position left by Erling Haarland, who signed for Manchester City.
The scorer born in France, but who represents the Ivory Coast, hastily left the preseason of the aurinegro team in Switzerland, upon diagnosing said testicular tumor in medical tests.
Haller’s case follows that of Marco Richter, of Hertha Berlin. The German striker underwent an operation a few weeks ago to remove a tumor from a testicle. The club indicated that the surgery was a success.
Timo Baumgartl, another player from the Bundesliga, hopes to return to the courts soon. The Union Berlin center-back also had a tumor removed from a testicle last May, followed by chemotherapy treatment.
