Johnny Depp has raised around $3 million euros, in a matter of hours, selling his works of art while continuing his legal battle with Amber Heard.

The famous interpreter of ‘Jack Sparrow ‘ had announced this Thursday, 28 July, on Instagram that he was putting up for sale some of the paintings he had made, through Castle Fine Art, in London. So many people rushed to the gallery’s website that it briefly crashed, according to British media such as the Daily Mail.

The limited edition collection of 28 pieces focused on ‘Friends & Heroes’ and included pop-art style works by Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Elizabeth Taylor and Al Pacino.

Individual images sold for $4,800 and the entire portfolio of four images sold for $18,000.

“I have always used the art to express my feelings and reflect on the people who matter most to me, such as my family, friends and the people I admire”, the actor declared on the website, confessing that until then he had kept his art to himself.

“My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should ever limit themselves” Johnny Depp

The gallery had long hoped that Depp would finally agree to organize an exhibition and sale of his art, and are in talks with him to host more of his work in the future.

“From photographic references, each image has been reduced to a simpler and more iconic representation of the subject, which Johnny has then developed and energized with his characteristic freehand strokes,” Castle Fine Art said in a statement.

The sale follows the conclusion of the high-profile court case of Johnny Depp in the United States against his ex-wife Amber Heard last month.

Although Heard is now appealing against the verdict of the trial, which Johnny won with an award of $000 million dollars, while she won $2 million in damages after a countersuit.
