FC Barcelona made the hiring of Jules Koundé official, after the young central defender completed his respective medical exams in Barcelona. Also, the Frenchman will be presented next Monday at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper and not at the Spotify Camp Nou as expected.
The main reason why Koundé will not set foot on the turf of the Barça venue is that they are still carrying out some work on the pitch that hosts the club each season. Likewise, the Frenchman will be the fourth signing to be presented at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper.
On the other hand, the Frenchman will stamp his signature on a new sports contract for his career, which will be until 30 in June and will have a $1 billion release clause; joining Ronald Araújo, Pedri, Ansu Fati and soon, Gavi.
Despite the fact that Koundé landed in Barcelona in the afternoon of this Thursday, the signing could not be make it official until the centre-back correctly carried out his medical examinations, under the gaze of the Barça board.
Ultimately, FC Barcelona will make a payment of $50 million dollars plus five in variables, one figure that widely recognizes all the talent and potential that the Frenchman has had in several years in European football.
“Mr. Xavi is a big part of my getting here. I have spoken with him several times and his speech has really excited me. The conversations were very fluid and I think we see football in the same way”, commented Jules Koundé.
Finally, the Frenchman has now become the Catalans’ fifth reinforcement and everything seems to indicate that he has everything in his favor to be Ronald Araújo’s partner at the start of the season 2022-2023 of the Santander League and the UEFA Champions League.
