Sonia Loja, a Hispanic mother of 36 years old, took off her life after killing her three children in her home in Danbury, Connecticut, according to authorities.
According to neighbors, Loja ran an illegal daycare in that same house and told her clients that she was not going to be able to take care of her children on Wednesday, hours before the murder-suicide.
“Yesterday in the morning, just before , a The guy came to drop off his son and she came to the door and said, ‘No, I’m sorry, I can’t see him today,'” neighbor Elvis Espinal commented yesterday to New York Post. “She had called all the other parents of the children she cared for (…) to tell them not to come that day.”
At approximately 6: 33 pm on Wednesday, officers responded to verify a wellness call at Whaley St. The caller was Pedro Panjón, Loja’s husband and father of the children, who was distraught and crying, according to local police.
Apparently Panjón entered the residence before the police arrived and fainted upon finding the family tragedy of triple homicide and suicide. “He went in and a couple of minutes later he came out and called 911 and he just passed out,” said the neighbor Espinal , adding that Loja never showed signs of emotional distress.
Upon arrival, agents entered the single-family residence and discovered three deceased persons, all minors between the ages of 5 and 12 year old. While conducting a further search of the premises, they found a deceased woman in a shed in the backyard.
Yesterday the minor victims were identified as Junior (12), Joselyn () and Jonael ( 5), all with the surname Panjón. “Pending an official autopsy, preliminary findings indicate that Loja strangled all three of his children before committing suicide,” Danbury police said in a statement. Panjón has not publicly commented on the possible cause of his wife’s actions.
