PETA will give ‘Climate CatasTROPHY’ trophies to Starbucks executives for charging extra to consumers who avoid dairy despite cow’s milk’s contribution to the company’s huge carbon footprint.
The organization that defends the rights of animals has demonstrated on multiple occasions against Starbucks since it makes an extra charge of up to 82 cents to consumers who opt for vegan milk in the branches of the United States.
For the extra charges on non-dairy milk, the ‘Climate CatasTROPHY’ trophy with a model of a cow and a burning planet along with a mug with the legend “More dollars for Starbucks” will be presented to the CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz.
In the letter that accompanies the tr ofeo Schultz is accused of misleading people. “Trying to profit from charging extra for vegan milks while claiming to care about the environment and animal welfare is deliberately misleading people,” PETA tells Starbucks CEO.
“Starbucks’ continued surcharge on vegan milks, while acknowledging that cow’s milk is the main reason the company’s carbon footprint is so large, has earned you a Climate Catas trophy from PETA,” says the organization to the top executive of Starbucks.
PETA indicates that the production of milk causes about three times more greenhouse gas emissions than the production of non-dairy milk.
In addition to pointing out the great environmental impact caused by the production of cow’s milk, the animal defense organization points out the “immeasurable suffering of confined cows intensively and forcibly impregnated, whose beloved calves are ripped from them soon after birth… how When they can no longer produce much milk, they are sent on a terrifying journey to the slaughterhouse.” in protest against the extra charge for non-dairy milk.
The actor and other members of PETA said they were there to represent the 12,000 customers who requested that Starbucks waives surcharge for plant-based milk alternatives.
“My friends at PETA and I are asking Starbucks to stop punishing kind and environmentally conscious customers for choose plant-based milks,” Cromwell said.
PETA notes that if Starbucks really cared about sustainability, it would stop charging extra for more sustainable vegan milks and even start charging extra for cow’s milk or I wouldn’t offer it at all.
While Starbucks has removed the vegan milk surcharge in the UK and most locations in France. PETA notes that the chain is still hitting on consumers who care about animals and the environment.
