A fatal accident rocked York County, Pennsylvania, after three children and an adult were killed when the tractor-trailer trailer they were traveling in crashed Friday morning. Six people were injured in the incident, authorities reported.

In the accident that occurred at 11: 11 am, the man driving the tractor lost control and skidded off the road, tumbling into the Otter Creek campground along the route 425 of the municipality of Lower Chanceford, reported Fritzi Schreffler, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

When the tractor operator left the road, he ran over an embankment, causing the tractor and trailer to roll, killing an adult woman and three children, police said. In the meantime, the tractor driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

It is not clear at this time what caused the driver to lose control of the tractor and go off the road. The original PennDOT report erroneously stated that an Amish horse and buggy were involved in the accident, Schreffler added.

State police spokesman Adam Reed said at a news conference at the later that the three children were transported by helicopter to hospitals, while the rest by ambulance. The severity of the injuries varied among the children.

The state police sent their criminal investigation unit, collision and reconstruction unit, and forensic services unit to collect evidence and determine how the incident occurred, he added. Reed.

The identities of the deceased children have not been released. It’s likely that some children were involved in the crash, but authorities are working with the families to determine that, Reed said.2022

Regarding the tractor, the police spokesperson revealed that the tractor involved was an “older” model pulling a utility-type flatbed trailer with two feet of “fence” around it. Reed described it as an “open trailer.”
