The border patrol officer, Walter N. Slosar, reported that this Saturday fifteen Cubans arrived illegally on an uninhabited islet near Key West, USA, for which they remained in the custody of the US authorities.
Slosar did not detail how long the migrants had been on the islet, however, he stated that they will be repatriated as soon as possible.
“15 Cuban immigrants were detained by #BorderPatrol this morning after making landfall in a rustic boat in the Marquesas Keys, an uninhabited island west of Key West,” the officer said.
According to what was detailed by Slosar on Twitter, a few hours earlier the authorities had also taken charge of another twelve illegal migrants sighted by a cruise ship in the Straits of Florida.
These people would have been helped by the crew of the Sunrise cruise ship of the Carnival company, who told the channel Local television 10 in Miami that they had notified the Coast Guard to pick them up.
