man-in-his-20s-commits-suicide-by-jumping-30-feet-from-chairlift-in-tennessee-park

In what was preliminarily ruled a suicide, a woman threw herself 30 feet from a chairlift at a theme park in Tennessee.

The tragedy was reported on Thursday afternoon in Anakeesta, in Gatlinburg.

Apparently, the female, in her 20 years old, raised the safety bar and jumped.

Images from the scene show a group of rescuers standing next to a black bag with the body of the alleged suicide bomber.

Andrew Berta, who was at the scene when the events were reported, said that he was lining up to get on the machine when an officer came crying.

“We talked to the police after he came back from the mountain literally crying. It was suicide,” Berta said on her Facebook page as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“A relative we spoke to and a member of the team who saw what happened said the girl raised the lane at the highest part of the route… a few seconds later, it jumped”, added the witness.

The machine had been inspected at the end of April and no safety issues were reported. The inspection process is required to be carried out every six months. The most recent operating permit is supposed to expire on August 10. However, it was renewed in advance.

After the incident, the park ordered a new review.
