MLB star and St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado will play the World Baseball Classic for the second time in a row with the United States team looking to revalidate his championship title, as announced by USA Baseball.

The third baseman, winner of nine Gold Gloves, becomes the third player confirmed by the American team for the World Baseball Classic 2022, after Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout and Boston Red Sox infielder Trevor Story.

It should be remembered that Arenado was one of the pillars of the United States team that was crowned world champion in 2017 after defeating Puerto Rico in the final.

In the current MLB season, the infielder of Cuban descent exhibits a batting average of .293 with 18 home runs, 59 runs batted in, 39 scored and an OPS de .881.

The United States team will seek to repeat the title in this tournament, which for the first time will bring together 20 teams, from 11 March 2023 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Americans are part of Group C, which also includes Mexico, Colombia and Canada.
