Jennifer López and Ben Affleck married in a surprise wedding almost 20 years after their engagement first ended, but Ojani Noa – who was married to the ‘On the Floor’ singer from February 1997 to January 1998 – not very confident in the union of the artists and has even suggested that it last for a very short time.
In a statement to the Mail on Sunday newspaper, the physical trainer wished the newlyweds the best, but said that he’s not sure it “will last”.
“Jen loves being in love, but she’s been engaged six times. Ben is her fourth husband. I was husband number one and she told me I was the love of her life. When we lay in bed on our wedding night, she said that we would be together forever. I’m happy that she’s back with Ben, but I have the feeling that this won’t last“, he stated.
And it is that Ojani Noa considers that although Jennifer is an artist with a long and fruitful career musical, she is also a woman who enjoys being in love and advancing in her personal life.
“I think she will marry seven or eight times. I don’t see her settling down with just one person. He strives to constantly advance in his professional life, but also in his private life.”
Oja was working as a waiter at Gloria Estefan’s restaurant in Miami, Lario’s On the Beach, when he met Jennifer -who had participated in the movie ‘Money Train’ and was working on the set of ‘Blood and Wine’ back then – but he had no idea who he was and his life as a “megastar” took its toll on him.
Recalls: “There were many times when I felt like Mr. Cinderella. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. At first, I had no idea who he was. We fell in love when she was already famous. But during our marriage she became a megastar. For years it was too painful to talk about it. I wanted to go unnoticed and live my life. But when I saw that she had married Ben, who is a good guy, the feelings came out again”.
The couple kissed for the first time at the closing party of ‘Blood and Wine’ , but then Jennifer returned to Los Angeles and the couple spent weeks on the phone before Ojani – who had come to the United States illegally from Cuba when he was 15 years- to attend the premiere of the film with her.
“After the premiere we returned to your hotel. It was the first time we made love. It was perfect. She was perfect. We slept together afterwards and she told me: ‘I want you to always be in my life. I love you’“.
While the couple was in love, Ojani’s life took a “turn” when Jennifer landed the lead role in ‘Selena’, the movie that turned the singer into a megastar .
“She went from being Jen to being JLo, a big business that brought her millions. About her She had a lot of people around her, they all wanted to make money with her. I called him and an assistant told me: ‘Sorry, he is not available’”.
But even after they got married, things got worse between them when photos of Jennifer with Sean ‘Diddy began to circulate ‘ Combs, the producer of his studio album.
“I called Jen and asked her why she was going out with him in the photos and she told me that it was just business, that that was what I should do. I was jealous and she was yelling at him that she was married to me. We wanted to have children, we talked about having them. Then he told me that he couldn’t have a baby because it would interfere with his career“.
Despite the problems and complications to see each other, the personal trainer had to pretend that everything was going well when they traveled to Chicago at 1997 to record an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“Oprah knew we had problems. I was sitting in the audience and I thought she was going to talk to me because we had talked about it before. She told Jen that she had heard she was having problems, but Jen said everything was amazing.”
The couple eventually split and the ‘Hustlers’ star began publicly dating Diddy, though she remained close to her ex-husband.
“she Sometimes she told me that she wanted us to get back together. In quiet moments she would tell me that she needed me in her life, that she didn’t want to lose me.”
