one-of-ukraine's-richest-men-died-after-a-russian-missile-hit-his-home

One of the richest and most recognized businessmen in Ukraine died along with his wife when they were victims of a Russian bombardment directed against their house.

Oleksiy Vadaturksy, from 74 years, and his wife Raisa, died after the impact of the Russian missile in the city of Mykolaiv, southern Ukraine on Saturday night, reported the BBC.

Vadaturksy owned a Ukrainian agricultural company named Nibulon, considered one of the most successful business figures in the country.

The information was confirmed by an adviser to the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, who noted that Vadaturksy was tied fired by the Russian army, and that the missile landed in the bedroom of his house.

The city of Mykolaiv has been the subject of heavy Russian bombardment since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine in February.

Vitaky Kim, a local leader, praised Vadatursky for “the contribution to the development of the businessman’s agricultural and shipbuilding industry. The development of the region is invaluable”, reported the BBC.

Vadaturksy’s net worth was estimated at about $400 million dollars in 2021, as reported by The Kyiv Independent.

Part of the deceased businessman’s performance was in the grain export industry in Ukraine, which has been paralyzed by the current war.

Ukraine accused Moscow of seizing grain supplies and selling them, but the Russian government has denied such claims.

Both Russia and Ukraine are major exporters of wheat and other cereals, whose shipment has been interrupted by the war, which has caused food prices to skyrocket around the world.

Last week both countries signed an agreement negotiated by the UN in Turkey to try to alleviate the food crisis. However, the deal came close to falling apart following a Russian attack on the port of Odessa the following day.

Meanwhile, the resumption of Ukrainian exports has been further delayed by controls on security, but Turkey said the first grain-carrying ship was expected to leave Odessa on Monday morning.
