This weekend it was announced that the company Edgewell Personal Care Co., which is the manufacturer of Banana Boat brand sunscreen, decided to withdraw some batches of said product from the market, since they could contain a highly carcinogenic.

Banana Boat’s sunscreen, which was originally recommended for use to protect against skin cancer, derived precisely from the action of the Sun’s rays, particularly in a presentation, could cause you more harm than good.

In an internal review conducted by the company it was found that the presentation of Banana Boat Hair & Scalp Sunscreen Spray SPF 30, in some samples benzene particles were found, a substance that is classified as a carcinogen.

That is why Edgewell Personal Care Co. decided to recall, nationwide, 3 lots of this sunscreen that comes in a spray form. These have an expiration date of December 2022, February 2023 or April 2024.

Similarly, the company made it clear that although traces of benzene appeared, it is not an ingredient used in Banana Boat products and that, rather, it would be found in the aerosol propellant.
