The Japanese Daichi Abe has been in the public opinion in the last few hours and not precisely because of the impressive knockout he gave his rival Marcos Yoshio de Souza in MMA, but because of what came moments after the KO.
During the Rizin 37, an event for semi-amateur fighters, both Abe and de Souza met in the second round of the tournament for the 176 pounds and although the fight seemed even, it was all over quickly.
And the thing is that the Asian landed an unexpected right hand on de Souza’s cheekbone that he couldn’t do anything about and fell straight to the canvas; but the outrageous thing happened seconds later when Abe kicked his rival’s face as if it were a soccer ball even knowing that the Brazilian was already defenseless.
Although the referee almost prevented the kick, it could not reach on time and Abe ended up passing out his adversary without showing a shred of mercy.
The action sparked strong criticism of Abe on social networks by users who pointed out that such actions are illegal in this sport, as well as head butts, bites and hair pulling.
Others also assured that although their duty was to finish the fight, the referee was already predisposed to give him the victory, with which he increased his record in MMA to 11-5.
