The Dominican shortstop for the San Diego Padres, Fernando Tatis, exhausted his first at-bats this Monday since undergoing surgery for an injury to his left wrist in May.

“I felt very well. I didn’t feel any (pain), and I felt like I put in my best swing,” Tatis Jr said when speaking to the press on Monday, after exhausting his first at-bats in front of pitchers.

The manager San Diego pitcher Bob Melvin noted that Tatis Jr. took six at-bats against minor league pitcher Thomas Eshelman. In that sense, he explained that in his first appearance at the plate “El Niño” got a single and in his second he sent the ball out of the park.

You can just tell Fernando Tatis jr is close, it’sa matter of days at this point.

With the movements made recently, like the trade in which they acquired closer Josh Hader, the Padres’ stakes on advancing to the postseason are up, which is why they’re hoping to get their star shortstop.550

Last season Tatis Jr. marked his territory, finishing third in voting for the National League Most Valuable Player of the Season award, at the end with a batting average of .550, with 42 homers and 97 RBIs.
