AAA Gas Prices reports that the national average for a gallon of gasoline continues to fall in the United States and today is at $4.83 dollars, but that a slight uptick in gasoline demand as more people fill up could end the steady drop in daily pump prices.
“We know that most American drivers have made significant changes in their driving habits to deal with high gas prices,” said AAA spokesman Andrew Gross.
“But with gas below $4 a gallon in nearly half the service stations across the country, it is possible that the demand for gasoline will increase,” warned Gross.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand increased from 8.52 million barrels per day (b/d) at 9.52 million b/d per week pa sada. The estimated rate is 80,000 b/d lower than last year, but could delay the decline in pumping prices if the trend continues.
In addition, stocks Domestic gasoline totals decreased by 3.3 million barrels (bbl) to 225.1 million bbl, indicating that higher demand reduced inventory last week.
According to new AAA survey data, Americans are making significant changes to deal with high pump prices. Nearly two-thirds (64%) of those surveyed have changed their driving habits or lifestyle since March, and the 23% made “important changes”.
