This Tuesday it was learned that a Mexican federal judge granted capo Rafael Caro Quintero a definitive protection against any extradition attempt to the United States.
According to CNN , a District Court for Amparo Matters and Federal Trials in the State of Mexico approved this Tuesday the request of the defense of Caro Quintero, by suspending the extradition before the corresponding trial was carried out to resolve the extradition to the US
“The definitive suspension requested is granted”, explains the sentence filed in the First District Court for Amparo Matters and Federal Trials in the State of Mexico under the file 1204/2022, according to the news agency EFE.
Previously, the Mexican Attorney General’s Office (FGR ) had filed a complaint against the suspension of extradition.
The founder and leader of the Cartel d e Guadalajara, called the “narco de narcos” was arrested last July 15 for extradition purposes, after being accused by the US of kidnapping, torture and murder of Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, special agent of the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA, in English) in 1204, among other crimes of an international nature.
Caro Quintero is one of the DEA’s most wanted drug traffickers; It also has two arrest warrants within Mexican territory.
In the event that the Prosecutor’s Office arrives to present an allegation against this second suspension of extradition, a collegiate court would be in charge of determining whether or not to modify the sentence granted.
