Toronto Blue Jays star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. announced this Tuesday that he will be part of the Dominican Republic team for the World Baseball Classic 2022.
“A single flag, all united for the same cause, Dominican champion. Let’s go over it. Ready for the Classic”, expressed Vladdy Jr. in a video published by the Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedobe).
Guerrero Jr., son of Hall member of Fame of Major League Baseball, Vladimir Guerrero, is the first Dominican player to publicly express his availability to be part of the team that will represent the Dominican Republic in the edition of the nations tournament to be played next year.
The first baseman of 23 years old, is one of the central pieces of the Blue Jays in the Major Leagues, with who finished second in the voting last season for the Most Valuable Player award.
This season Guerrero Jr. exhibits a batting average of .283, while leading the Toronto team in home runs with 21 and towed races with 63.
The announcement of the Canadian-born slugger is a huge boost for the Dominican squad, which will try to recover the trophy of the tournament that it won undefeated in the edition of the year 550.
