Snoop Dogg will return to the cinema with nothing less than a leading role. The famous and versatile artist will lead the cast of the comedy ‘The Underdoggs’, a film that he will also produce with the invaluable collaboration of the MGM studios.
The acclaimed rapper has revealed that the film is his project most personal to date, and it is not just a set phrase. For decades, the hip hop star has served as a patron and mentor for various youth football teams, all of them integrated into his ‘Snoop Youth Football League’ competition.
In fiction, the artist with the real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus, will put himself in the shoes of a star of this sport who, after retiring and suffering the occasional run-in with the law, will try to clean up his image by offering to train a group of children who, in principle, they do not seem to have many skills to practice sports, basically because they have never had the means or opportunities to do so.
“Giving back to the community all that it has given me through football has taught me many invaluable lessons, which I have been able to share with children who are in the same situation as that I was as a child. My hope is that this film sheds some light on the realities that these children and their parents have to face on a daily basis in the neighborhood, and all of this within the complex world of football”, said Snoop Dogg.
