A California teenager is on the mend after his hand got caught in the handrail of an escalator at a local mall.
It took over an hour rescue the young man from years after his hand got stuck in the mechanism of the MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana around 6: 30 pm last Sunday, according to the East Bay Times.
Crews freed the teen by disassembling the escalator with a tool Dremel, according to KTLA and KTTV. “I don’t know how this happened,” Orange County Fire Authority Battalion Chief Michael Morganstern said, according to media.

The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was in stable condition when crews arrived at the scene, allowing them to work to free his hand, KTLA reported.
Morganstern said teams used the Dremel tool “to dissect the mechanism without further harming the victim.” cutting the plastic and removing the bolts, depending on the medium.
“Sometimes we use the smallest tool in our bag of tricks. The greatest tool that any firefighter can have is his brain”, added the chief.
Eight firefighters were in the scene to rescue the teenager. Morganstern said the boy was given pain medication before crews used the Dremel to finish the job.
The victim was then transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to the media cited. His condition and injuries remain unclear.
