The couple previously said that their first 2 children were conceived via in vitro fertilization and in her announcement, Teigen revealed that the new baby is on the way “1 billion shots later”.
“At each appointment I have I said to myself, ‘Okay, if it’s healthy today, I’ll announce it,’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief as I hear a heartbeat and decide I’m still too tired. I’m nervous“, she confessed.
“I think I will never leave a date with more enthusiasm than nerves, but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I feel hopeful and surprising”, she added.
Teigen and Legend were married in 2013 and are parents to Luna, 5, and Miles, 3, but in September 2020, experienced a tragic pregnancy loss.
She had said that she faced various pregnancy complications caused by a partial abruption of the placenta. After uncontrollable bleeding and bed rest for a month, she finally had to give birth to their son, whom they named Jack, at 20 weeks.
“We are shocked and with the kind of deep pain that you only hear about, the kind of pain that you never we have felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids she needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough,” she explained at the time.
“Jack worked very hard to be part of our little family, and he will be forever. To our Jack: I am very sorry that the first moments of his life were met with so many complications, that we were not able to provide him with the home that he needed to survive. We will always love you,” she noted.
Since then, she has remained transparent about the IVF treatments she underwent to conceive again, and her honesty helped remove stigmas around fertility struggles and empowered others in her pregnancy journey .
