anheuser-busch-“ritas”-contain-no-tequila,-customers-can-request-a-refund

A lawsuit claims that Anheuser-Busch misleads consumers into believing its cocktail-inspired “Ritas” canned beverages contain certain distilled spirits such as tequila when they do not. The company is now offering a refund to buyers.

“Nowhere on the packaging did Ms. Copper (plaintiff) see a disclaimer or any other statement indicating that the company’s product Margarita does not contain tequila, or that the product is just a flavored beer,” said the original complaint filed in 2020, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

The media shares of the lawsuit says that “consumers’ expectation is not unreasonable considering that competing alcohol brands sell similar canned products, such as Jose Cuervo Sparkling Margaritas, that contain other alcohols.”

Two years later, Anheuser-Busch has reached an agreement in the lawsuit to prevent further litigation by financially compensating eligible consumers who had purchased Rita products.

Anheuser-Busch denies all class action allegations filed against it with r regarding Ritas brand products for alleged violations of false advertising laws. The company reported that the Court has not decided who is right. However, it makes the agreement public knowledge.

“If you purchased Ritas brand products from January 1, 2018 to 19 July 2022, then you may be entitled to a payment from a class action settlement.” , says Anheuser-Busch.

You do not need to have kept proof of purchase to get a cash payment. Anheuser-Busch indicates that the only way to obtain a Settlement Payment is to submit a claim form with or without proof of purchase. The deadline to submit a form is December 16. The claim site is ritassettlement.com.

Consumers with proof of purchase can claim up to $21.25, without proof of purchase, a refund of up to $9 can be claimed.75.

The company notes that you may be a “Settlement Class Member” if you are a person who purchased for personal consumption, and not for resale, any Ritas-branded product in the United States.
