Not forty minutes had passed and the MTV VMAs 2022 were already making noise on Twitter and Instagram.
It all started when “Moon Person”, the award-winning silver astronaut, descended from the top of the stage and inside his helmet, a familiar face welcomed everyone: Johnny Depp!
The actor, who is recovering his career and on the way after the defamation trial against his ex-partner, Amber Heard, recorded a video of his face to be projected inside the “Moon Person” helmet.
“Hey, you know what? I needed this job“, joked Johnny Depp at the beginning of the show, to the surprise of all those present and the viewers who follow the ceremony from home.
Jack Harlow, who won the night’s top prize alongside Lil Nas X (Best Collaboration), dazzled with “First Class” to open the show, from inside the first class section of a plane.
After “getting off” the plane, Jack Harlow joined a surprise guest, Fergie, to sing a duet of “Glamorous”. Immediately afterwards, Lizzo offered one of the most celebrated presentations of the night, with “About Damn Time” and “2 Be Loved”, where it was repeated hundreds of times on the screens of the place.
Subsequently, the little more than 10 One thousand people who gathered at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, received LL Cool J, one of the presenters of the ceremony, who was in charge of orchestrating the guests and directing most of the party.
Artists such as Bad Bunny, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Panic! at the Disco to delight the public with their new singles.
As for the nominations , Harry Styles and Doja Cat are tied for the most (eight each), followed by Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X with seven mentions each.
The night’s special prizes will go to give to Nicki Minaj, who will receive the VMA Video Vanguard Award 2022, while The Red Hot Chili Peppers will be named Global Icons.
