Smith, is the player number 11 announcing the US team for the World Baseball Classic 2023, joining Mike Trout (Los Angeles Angels), who will be the captain, the aforementioned JT Realmuto, Pete Alonso ( New York Mets), Trevor Story (Boston Red Sox), Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt (San Luis Cardinals), Tim Anderson (Chicago White Sox), Mookie Betts (Los Angeles Dodgers), Cedric Mullins (Baltimore Orioles) and Kyle Tucker ( Houston Astros).
The United States will begin the defense of their title as part of Group C at Chase Field in Phoenix between the and the 15 of March. In that first round they will face Canada, Colombia, Mexico and one of the teams that advances in the pending qualifying tournaments.
