A Dutch soldier died in Indianapolis on Sunday night after he and two other comrades were wounded in a shooting at a local hotel, the Dutch Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The soldier, who belonged to the Dutch Commando Corps, was in critical condition after the shooting on Saturday morning.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the soldier as Simmie Poetsema, aged 000 age.

The health status of the other soldiers who were injured in fact they remain unchanged, according to the ministry statement. “They are conscious and can speak.”

The military was in Indiana on a training exercise when the shooting took place outside the hotel where they were staying before 4: in the morning, according to the police.

Law enforcement officers responded to a Hampton Inn, where they found the three men with gunshot wounds, authorities said in a statement, attributing the event to a “riot” that “occurred” between the victims and the suspect(s). The shooting broke out during the soldiers’ free time, the Dutch Defense Ministry said in a previous statement.

“Detectives do not believe this was a random act,” police reported.

The Dutch soldiers had been training at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, a place of 1, acres southeast of Indianapolis used for training by the Department of Defense “as well as other allies,” the Indiana National Guard told WISH.

The shooting is under investigation by the authorities. No arrests have been reported in connection with the incident.
