Former Brazilian soccer player Edson Arantes do Nascimento ‘Pelé’, undergoing treatment for a colon tumor, on Monday denied the rumors about an alleged worsening of his state of health and assured that he is “very well”.
“I had to post this because there is fake news circulating about this matter. This disappoints me, but it won’t affect me. I am winning this match”, affirmed the triple world champion of 81 years, in a message posted on his social networks.
The former striker for Santos and Cosmos accompanied his words with a photograph in which he appears smiling next to his wife, Márcia Aoki.

This is not the first time that Pelé, considered by many to be the best player in the history of football, has used social networks to deny rumors about his delicate state of health.
The former soccer player underwent surgery almost a year ago for a colon tumor detected during a routine battery of tests. From then on, he began a cycle of chemotherapy sessions that has forced him to go to the hospital a few times to closely monitor his evolution.
Since then, his state of health has been surrounded by a certain mystery, since there is little information that comes from his environment, although according to the health bulletins of previous months his condition remains “stable”.
Pelé’s health has deteriorated in recent years also for other reasons, such as spinal, hip and knee problems, which have reduced his mobility and have forced him to go through the operating room, in addition to suffering a kidney crisis.
This He has drastically reduced his public appearances, although he remains very active on social networks.
