The great fight between Saúl Canelo Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin to put an end to a historic trilogy that can mark a before and after of contemporary boxing is already in the boxing scene. Eddy Reynoso, Guadalajara’s coach, knows that it will be a complicated fight and many things are at stake.
The next one 12 September, Canelo Álvarez will put his belts of undisputed world champion of the 168 pounds at stake against Golovkin. And beyond that, he runs the risk of falling and losing credibility, world prominence and his legacy has two asterisks of consecutive defeats against Bivol and the Kazakh.
In that sense, Eddy Reynso expressed part of the plan that Canelo has to beat Golovkin and prove again that he is the best pound for pound in the world. “A complicated fight for both of them, very tough because they already know each other, they are high-level fighters, with good punch and it will be a very tough fight,” he declared in Little Giant Boxing.
Work in the melee
Canelo has already faced Golovkin a couple of times and took him to his maximum level with 12 rounds in both fights. They were explosive combats that invite you to dream of an unforgettable evening next 17 September.
“You have to work as always, we made good 24 rounds against Golovkin, we have to make them even better, Saúl in the 168 you can see that he is very strong, he is the champion of the four organisms and we have to prove it and see that he learned more”, said Reynoso about the hand-to-hand work.

They are only interested in Bivol
In case they beat Golovkin, and Dmitry Bivol does the same in November against Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramírez, the rematch against the Russian boxer will take place next year.
“Why not, we have to win this fight (Golovkin) and we are going to look for Bivol next year,” Reynoso said. With these statements, any possibility of seeing a Canelo vs. Zurdo Ramírez in the 168 pounds.
“We are interested in Bivol, he beat us and he is the one with whom we have our revenge. What matters most to us is to beat Golovkin and then see what comes next”, closed Eddy Reynoso.
