A man was accused of stabbing and biting a food delivery man after stealing a woman’s purse on Monday afternoon, Boston authorities reported.
The suspect identified as Jayson Seay, aged 26 allegedly took the woman’s purse on Rockland Street in Malden. The man fled and was chased down Chestnut Street by two Good Samaritans, according to the report.
CBS Boston reported that Seay allegedly stabbed one of the men and bit him several times on the arm by a 21 years old, identified as Ryan Dos Santos.
The delivery man showed the stab wound on his leg and bites to CBS.
“I saw the opportunity, I shot him down,” Dos Santos said. “Who is going to run up to a guy with a knife who is threatening to stab you? Not all.”
A young man from the neighborhood recorded a video before the Dos Santos authorities arrived, pinning the thief to the ground in an alley.
“He could have stabbed me in the leg, in the quadriceps,” the delivery man said. “He bit me three times on the left arm. I was able to hold it. Police arrived shortly after.”
The two men were able to restrain the suspect and grab the bag when Malden Police officers responded to the scene.
The food delivery man was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries and is now recovering, reported WHDH.
Seay will be tried this Tuesday in the Malden District Court, according to WHDH.
Marc Gatcomb , Malden police captain, said that while he praises the delivery man’s actions, he asks bystanders not to delve into an active crime.
