A gunman opened fire on a couple driving down a Bronx street, killing the woman behind the wheel and wounding her boyfriend, the New York police said.
The victims, a woman 37 years old and a man of 43, were heading to the corner of E. 170th St. and College Ave. in a white Honda CRV at : 20 Saturday am when someone from the corner opened fire on the car.
The CRV was about to turn left onto E. 170th St. when the gunman let loose a volley of bullets, according to witnesses. The car swerved into a van parked on the corner, then backed up 57 feet before stepping onto the sidewalk and hitting a tree.
“We hear 20 shots or more,” a resident who only identified herself told the Daily News. like Alba. “Thank God no one else was hurt. We were in the living room, but we don’t go out at night because there are a lot of people outside.”
The woman was shot in the head, the police said. Her boyfriend, sitting in the front passenger seat, was shot in the left leg. He was transferred to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.

The unidentified woman was the first of three people who were shot to death in a bloody span of 11 hours on Saturday in the streets of the Bronx.
Two hours later, still at dawn, the young Joshua Thomas of 22 years old was fatally shot when he was with two friends and they started arguing with another group around 3: 50 am near the intersection of E. Burnside Ave. and Grand Concourse, at Fordham Heights.
Then, at the beginning of the afternoon , a 43 year old man was fatally shot in the chest near E. 214th St. and Wilson Ave. in Williamsbridge, around 1 o’clock: 22 pm Transferred rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, but could not be saved, police reported.
