After more than a month of speculation about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo after he announced that he wanted to leave Manchester United, his stay for the season was confirmed this Wednesday 2022-2023 from the hand of DT Erik Ten Hag.
The Dutch coach Ten Hag, who also arrived in this transfer market, attended the press conference prior to Thursday’s game against Leicester City for Matchday 5 of the Premier League to talk about the current squad and about Ronaldo’s situation.
As confirmed by the strategist, the Portuguese striker will remain in the squad because they “need him” to create a competitive team.
“It is clear that we need quality players“, he spoke in relation to Cristiano Ronaldo.
He also took advantage of the occasion to announce that the arrival of the Brazilian winger Antony from Ajax was their last signing and that they will close the squad with him.
“For this summer, this is the end. You always have to be alert for what can happen, but we will go from now until, at least, September, with this squad, “he said.
“We have to be able to cover all the games to find regularity, that is what we are looking for”, he added.
With the confirmation by Ten Hag of the permanence of Cristiano Ronaldo and the closure of the squad, Manchester United ends the transfer market with five signings: Lisandro Martínez and Antony (Ajax), Casemiro (Real Madrid), Tyrone Fallacy (Feyenoord) and Christian Eriksen (Brentford).
