The Spaniard Riqui Puig made his debut this Wednesday as a scorer in the MLS with a splendid shot in the minute 80 that served for the LA Galaxy, led by Mexican Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández, will rescue ‘in extremis’ a 2-2 draw at Toronto FC.
With this result, the Galaxy have gone four games in a row without losing (two wins and two draws).
In his third meeting with the Galaxy since arriving from Barcelona earlier this month, Puig, who started for the second consecutive game, stood alone in front of the area and sent the ball to the top corner to achieve the final 2-2.
The Spaniard’s was not the only great goal of this match.
The Brazilian Douglas Costa put the Galaxy ahead in the 24 with a fabulous free kick goal after a good start by the Angelenos with Riqui Puig and his compatriot Víctor Vázquez in charge of operations.
After the restart, Federico Bernardeschi scored in the 55 with an acrobatic shot from the far post for Toronto but the goal was disallowed for offside.
In the next play, Chicharito had the sentence for the Galaxy but could not take advantage of a great ball served by the Mexican-American Julián Araujo.
The tie for the local team it arrived in the 62 courtesy of the Spaniard Jesús Jiménez, who had entered the field a minute before and finished off a ‘ pass of death’ by Ifunanyachi Achara.
Toronto grew from that goal in a game that at that point was already broken and with both teams looking for the go-ahead goal.
It was achieved by the Canadian team in the 80 through Bernardeschi, who forced a penalty from Raheem Edwards that he himself was in charge of transforming.
The Toronto fans were already savoring the victory but Puig, with his amazing goal, was in charge of saving a point for the Galaxy.
