The Mexican American arrested in Plano, Texas, for the racist attack captured on video against two women of Indian origin would face more criminal charges, authorities anticipated.
At the moment, Esmeralda Upton faces accusations of assault, bodily harm and terroristic threats. The woman, who was arrested last Thursday afternoon, was given a bond of $10,000 dollars.
The night before, around 8: 15 pm, the suspect hurled racial slurs at two women of Indian descent outside the Thirty Vines restaurant. In the exchange, the racist hit one of them and tried to grab the phone with which she was recording.
Among other things, the attacker yelled at the victims that they went back to India and that they were ruining the USA
“We don’t want you here”, repeats the aggressor. “If they take care of you so well in your country, go back there”, adds the stalker.
Next, she seems to walk away from the place, but returns and tries to slap the women.
“Don’t fuckwith me”, he threatens.
“No, no I am white, I am Mexican…”, she indicates while one of the victims is in the phone call with the Police.
It should be noted that officers arrived at the scene of the attack following the call of one of the victims, but Upton, aged 58, was not arrested at the time. The reasons are not clear.
Urmeet Juneja, president of the North Texas Indian Association, told the media that her organization will leave the course of action regarding the case in the hands of the Police.
However, she cataloged shocking incident.
“It is really shocking because we have been here for a long time. Many, many years,” she highlighted.
“It is not only against the Indian community, they are hate crimes against any race or country”, he pointed out.
