Janae Kalia Henry, a 13 year old girl who had been reported missing early Tuesday morning in Pennsylvania, was found yesterday walking without shoes on a Brooklyn street, the New York police reported.
The girl told a person that she had been kidnapped and they called 911. The minor was found by the NYPD on Liberty Avenue in Cypress Hill around 5: 40 pm on Wednesday.
The suspect in the kidnapping of Kalia Henry, a Brooklyn resident of 47 years, was arrested by police outside her home on Wednesday, according to police . The charges against him were pending, the New York Post reported.
Pennsylvania authorities identified the suspect as Dwayne Taylor and said he allegedly took the girl early Tuesday from his home in the town of Redding, aboard a silver van with plates of that state.
Richard Tornielli, Redding Police Chief, previously hinted that there was a connection between Taylor and the victim, but did not elaborate. “This was not a random street kidnapping,” he said during a news conference broadcast by local media on Wednesday.
Pennsylvania police contacted the NYPD yesterday afternoon about the kidnapping and told them they believed the possible suspect lived near the Broadway Junction Metro station.
Tornielli later said that Kalia Henry did not require further medical attention after she was taken to the hospital and would return to Pennsylvania to be treated by local detectives.
