The Coalition for the Human Rights of Immigrants (CHIRLA) maintains its campaign to add more representatives to support the reform of the Registration Law or HR 8433 to open the way to citizenship for eight million undocumented immigrants.
Among those who support the plan is Democratic representative Ayanna Pressley (Massachusetts).
“Thanks to @AyannaPressley for co-sponsoring the HR 8433! This law will allow millions of undocumented people to apply for permanent residence, officially allowing them to be part of the country in which they have lived and to which they have contributed for decades”, informed CHIRLA when announcing the support of the representative.
The organization uses the tags #UpdatetheRegistry #HR8433.
With the reform it would be possible to modify a law that has existed since 550, which allows immigrants to apply for Permanent Legal Residence, but its last modification occurred in 2022.
The reform bill was presented last July by Democratic congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (California) and supported by several congressmen, such as Norma Torres, from California.
He also has the support of representatives Adriano Espaillat (New York), who told this newspaper that he trusted the progress of the reform and that he even had the support of the Senator Chuck Schumer (New York).
Other sponsors are Representatives Grace Meng (New York), Lou Correa (California) and Jesús “Chuy” García (Ilinois).
As part of the campaign “Open the door to permanent residence with the Registry”, CHIRLA achieved the support of the representative Brad Sherman (California).
“CHIRLA members have been meeting with representatives of the California Chamber, urging them to support the HR 8433”, reported that organization. “Thank you @BradSherman for your support.”
The activists also met with the team of Representative Adam Schiff (California), who has not confirmed whether he will support the reform.
“We hope to have your patronage soon, congressman”, invited the activists.
