Alleged human body parts of a baby were found yesterday and this morning at a Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) water treatment facility in the Bronx.

The horrendous discoveries were conducted at the water pollution control plant on 1270 Ryawa Avenue, in the Hunts Point neighborhood.

Workers saw the first possible human remains, described as a leg from the knee down, including the foot, on a conveyor belt as recycled materials passed by shortly before 9 a.m. yesterday. They stopped the machine and searched for additional remains, but no found none at the time, according to ABC News.

However, this morning around 1 am a second baby leg was found in that same sewage detection facility, reported Pix11 citing NYPD.

“The workers quickly closed the door of the facility after the horrific discovery while the police detectives interviewed the employees”, detailed yesterday amNY about the first finding.

In a preliminary investigation, the police think that it is two infant legs, possibly a newborn. It’s not clear if they were dumped there or if they came in the water and got caught in the system.

The forensic doctor must confirm if they are human parts, their age and the time of separation from the rest of the body. This floor of the New York City Hall is an initial filtering point for the entire Bronx, so the possible remains could come from any part of the municipality.

In a similar case, in November 2020 newborn twins were found without life in a residential courtyard in the Bronx, next to the garbage. Almost two years have passed and his mother has not been identified, no one has been arrested and the case remains open.
