parties,-women-and-alcohol:-andy-ruiz-confesses-what-his-greatest-excesses-are-after-defeating-anthony-joshua

Beating Anthony Joshua was somewhat counterproductive for the Mexican boxer Andy Ruiz, because although he became world heavyweight champion, his excesses clouded that victory.

In an interview with Marco Barrera for the podcast Un Round Más, the boxer revealed what were those reasons that made him lose the winning path he had achieved.

He assured that alcohol, parties and women took him out of focus and That is why he could not have a good preparation to face the British in the rematch, where Ruiz finally ended up losing.

“Everything flew by. He was excited. I was waiting 29 years for it to happen and I enjoyed it more. Time flew by, I wasn’t thinking that I had to train, that there would be a rematch. I was with my friends, I was doing a lot of bullshit”, revealed Ruiz.

“It was hard to say no, because I wanted to enjoy and discover things that I never thought about, but everyone has their moment. My mom told me to take care of myself, that there was going to be a rematch, but one didn’t care. When I was training in the department I said: what am I doing, and I have to focus, I already did all the chaos that had to be done”, he added.

He also explained that when he realized that he no longer there was a lot of time. He had a long way to go to train, and he wasn’t very focused.

In addition, he explained that when he became champion, the women began to get closer and at that moment he didn’t put up much resistance to play along with them.

“Yes, I mean he went out with women. There were girls that I thought I couldn’t have, bumps, and if it wasn’t that day, it was for the next day too. Then on instagram he had a million new followers. I was looking at a woman, and I answered her, that’s how it was,” said Andy Ruiz.

All these factors meant that the Mexican did not show up in good shape for his rematch with Anthony Joshua, who, unlike him, arrived much stronger than in the first fight.

“I didn’t know he was going to come Still, he was going to want his belt back. When someone gives you everything, it’s easy for you, they say I’m not going to train and I’m going to go with friends, with the artists who wanted to meet me, I thought it was the mere dick“, he sentenced.

This Sunday Andy Ruiz will get back into the ring to face Cuban Luis Ortiz. I have seen him with a very committed behavior and focused on winning.
